Beautiful in Time (2019)

My first singer-songwriter single, Beautiful in Time, was written with Blaire Nicole, in 2019. Together we were studying songwriting in Sydney. Myself from Perth, and Blair from Canada. As part of a project, we were paired up and our assessment was writing a demo. 

 

I remember when we first met, it was a little awkward because we were practically strangers at that point. But by the end of the process, we had got to know each other pretty well. The first step was talking about the story we wanted to tell. We settled on using the art form of Kintsingu, from Japan, which is the art of fixing broken pottery with gold, creating a more beautiful piece by the end.  We used this art form as a metaphor for our lives as humans. How when we feel broken, it feels permanent but in reality, with the right help, we grow into even more beautiful people than we were before. The message of the song is that we as humans are truly so strong and we can get through these hard times.
